From its introduction in late 1972 to the present day the Pontiac Grand Am has remained an inspirational automobile, spawning a variety of imitators and impostors, but none that carry off the concept with quite the same style.

Of course, those early cars were very different to the present day models, and with good reason, The early 70's were heady days indeed; the oil crisis was just around the corner, although we didn't know it, and the first Grand Am models came equipped with 6.5 liter or 7.4 liter V8 motors.

Now completely removed from the monster that was the 1973 original, the Grand Am entered its fifth generation of production in 199, when a full redesign saw the emergence of a very good looking compact car with a wide range of options and engine specifications.

With music taking preference over a roaring engine as we entered the 21st Century it was no surprise that the Grand Am received not only an up market CD player, but the wonders of MP3, too. Comfort and pandering was never short in the fifth generation Grand Am, and this endeared the model to many.
